The forcados are constituted of a group of 8 men with one leader. The leader will stand in the middle of the arena and call the bull in the hope that the animal will charge him. Once the bull charges, the lead forcado will attempt to grab the animal by the horns and not fall off until the rest of his team control the animal. If he is unsuccessful, he will get up and try again, as many times as needed, or until he can no longer do it. Unlike in Spain where the bull is killed in the arena, the Portuguese bullfight revolves around two acts. The first being control of the bull by a rider on a horse, and the second the Forcados take over.
