With a white bag filled with his books, Bridget Debarros and son Jayden Colleta, 8, embrace in a moment of emotion as this is Jaydens last day at Mount Carmel school. Mrs. DeBarros decided to pull her son out of the school immediately after finding out that the school was closing at the end of the year in fear of losing a spot at Taylor Elementary school which is close to their home. Members of Mount Carmel school, a catholic school in the south end of New Bedford, got the bad news today when they were told that the school would close at the end of the year due to a funding shortage. Low enrolment rates have forced the school to close down after attempting to boost the student body over the last two years.
