After tying off the frozen fishing vessel, Antonio Fidalgo, right mate, and John Bernardo, engineer, survey the ice at the front of their fishing boat. After spending only four days at sea and with the temperatures falling into the single digits the crew of the F/V Iberia II was forced to come back to port in New Bedford, MA after the fishing vessel started listing to one side due to the weight of the ice. copyright 2007 Peter Pereira

NOTE:
Sadly the day after I took this photograph I learned that another fishing boat the F/V Lady of Grace, sank in Buzzards Bay due to the same ice condition the Iberia II, pictured here, experienced as it was making its way back to port. All 4 crewmembers are still missing.
