With the city stretched out down below, George Ripley, mason, is seen cutting into the grout atop the corner of the New Bedford hotel elderly apartment building, in downtown New Bedford.  Mr. Ripley is cutting away the old bricks that need to be replaced as part of a vast exterior renovation to the bricks and siding to the former hotel that opened in 1921.  In 1972 the building was transformed into an elderly residence and today over 112 residents call the former hotel home.
