The new batch of Massachusetts Maritime Academy cadets engage in two weeks of basic training/boot camp. These 350 new arrivals are given a military style preparation before their studies begin with the rest of the school body. Massachusetts Maritime Academy, established in 1891 and the oldest continuosly-operating maritime academy in the country, is located in Buzzards Bay, MA and is a regionally accredited, coeducational, state college offering undergraduate degrees in maritime-related fields, as well as graduate degrees and professional studies.
