William White puts on his prosthetic arm in his cell which he uses when he goes to have lunch. Mr. White who was born without a left arm, has been in for 6 weeks waiting for his lawyer to clarify a situation. The Bristol County Jail and House of Correction on Ash St. in New Bedford, MA was built in 1829 and is the oldest operating jail in the country. Almost all of the inmates at the jail are awaiting trial date. Eighteen of the inmates have been sentenced and are active in the maintenance of the facility.
