Alex Pateakos, who suffers from Spinal Muscular Atrophy type 1, wasn't expected to live past a year with this severe disorder, but thanks to loving support, he's currently in 6th grade at the Sippican School in Marion, MA. While he is not able to move or speak, Alex can communicate using a tablet that senses where he is looking on the screen.
