A Mayan ritual is performed atop the Cerro Pascual Abaj (Sacrifice Stone) a shrine to the Mayan earth god Huyup Tak'ah.  This shrine is said to be hundreds perhaps thousands of years old.  The hilltop is high above Chichicastenango, Guatemala.

An incredible amount of color and tradition line the small streets as people make their way through.  On the steps of the Santo Tomas church women sell flowers while others burn incesnce at the entrance to the church.

Alba Estrada director of the Biblioteca Comunitaria,  "ventanas abiertas al futuro", gets a hand from Brenda Cleary, a muralist with Art Corps who helped her come up with the concept for the mural puzzel made from colored rice and glue.  The library features a diversity of books and internet access for all in the small town of Chiche.  The library is partly funded by an American organization and the town helps out as well.  This is only one of 9 in Guatemala.

Pedro Hernandez grandfather of Gaspar Francisco Lopez Suar, 20 is one of the 361 illegal immigrants that were datained during the raid on the Michael Bianco plant in the south end of New Bedford on March 6, 2007.  Francisco finds himself back in his hometown of Potrero Viejo, Guatemala after being deported due to the raid.  With the loss of both his parents, Francisco finds himself the leader of the home and responsible for his siblings Xiomara Lopez Suar, 16, Maria Elena Lopez Suar, 12 and his brother along with grandfather Pedro Hernandez.

Life in Chichiquastenango, Guatemala. A family of two parents 12 children and 2 grandchildren struggle to survive in the forest area where living is simply existing.  The women of the family weave hats to sell at the market.  The children play with their puppies and with sticks.  They climb trees and chase the dogs.  The smile and laugh, but their existence is on the fringe.

Mrs Garcia's husband is a detainee that is still in prison in Texas is living in poverty in Xicalal, Guatemala along with her sons Marvin Estuardo Garcia, 12, panther shirt, Cesar Daniel Garcia, drk shirt, and Kevin Andrew Garcia, 3 orange shirt.  The struggle for their daily existence has tanken its toll on Mrs. Garcia as her husband has not been able to send her any money since he was detained during the Bianco raids.
