Carlos takes a quick look at the booklet and crucifix given to him by a priest at a chapel downtown that he had just gone in to say a few prayers. Carlos is an alcoholic who I've been documenting for a little over two years. When I run into him I usually spend some time trying to capture bits of his difficult life. Carlos like many alcoholics wants to quit but isn't able to (not yet anyway). Last year (2006) 20,687 were victims of alcohol-induced deaths, excluding accidents and homicides and 12,350 died of alcoholic liver disease.
